Not Yet

Whew, it’s been a while.

Honestly, I didn’t plan to disappear for this long. But life has been… life.

This year has not gone the way I imagined it would.

When 2026 started, I was trying to be hopeful. That was my word for the year. And looking back now, I can say my hope has definitely been tested.

There have been moments where I have prayed, waited, tried to remain positive, and still found myself asking:

“God, what is happening?”

Maybe you know that feeling.

You pray about something.
You work hard for it.
You believe it could finally be your time.

And then… no.

A few months ago, I experienced exactly that.

I applied for something I had worked incredibly hard for. I prepared. I prayed. I fasted. I genuinely believed this could be the answer I had been waiting for.

And then I was rejected.

I was devastated.

I wanted to quit my job. I wanted to disappear. I wanted to delete my social media, shut everyone out and just cry until I figured out what I was supposed to do next.

And honestly, that’s something I’ve done before when life gets overwhelming. I retreat.

But this time, I had people who wouldn’t let me stay there.

My family, my partner and the people around me prayed for me, encouraged me, spoke life into me and reminded me of who I am when I couldn’t see it for myself.

And I am so grateful for them.

Because when you’re disappointed, your feelings can become very loud.

You start thinking:

Maybe I’m not good enough.
Maybe I’m behind.
Maybe God has forgotten me.
Maybe everyone else is moving forward except me.
Maybe this just isn’t going to happen for me.

I’ve had those thoughts.

Maybe you have too.

But during my devotion recently, I came across Romans 8:28 again:

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him.”

I’ve known this verse for years.

But this time, something stood out to me.

All things doesn’t mean all things are good.

The rejection wasn’t good.

The disappointment wasn’t good.

The waiting wasn’t easy.

But God can take something that was painful and still bring something good from it.

And that’s what I am beginning to see.

After that rejection, I could have stayed stuck. Instead, I started working on a project that had been sitting in my heart for a very long time.

And somehow, in the middle of my disappointment, I found joy again.

I found clarity.

I found direction.

I started seeing possibilities I hadn’t considered before.

And I realised something:

Maybe the answer wasn’t “no.”
Maybe it was “not yet.”

I don’t know what God is doing with every part of my story. I still have prayers I’m waiting on. I still have questions. I still have moments where I wonder when things will finally change.

But I am learning that not seeing God work doesn’t mean He isn’t working.

“For we live by faith, not by sight.” — 2 Corinthians 5:7

Sometimes faith looks like continuing when you don’t have evidence yet.

Sometimes it looks like getting up after rejection.

Sometimes it looks like trying again.

Sometimes it looks like allowing people to love you when you want to disappear.

And sometimes it looks like saying:

“God, I don’t understand this, but I still trust You.”

If you are reading this and you’re in that place too  waiting, disappointed, confused, or wondering why things aren’t happening for you  I want you to know you’re not alone.

Maybe you’re watching everyone around you get married while you’re still waiting.

Maybe you’re applying for jobs and hearing “unfortunately…”

Maybe you’ve been praying for your family.

Maybe you’ve been waiting for your finances to change.

Maybe you’re working towards a dream and nothing seems to be happening.

Maybe you’re simply tired of starting over.

I don’t have a perfect answer for you.

But I’m learning it too.

A delay is not the end of your story.

“Though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay.” — Habakkuk 2:3

I am choosing to believe that what feels like a setback today can still become part of something beautiful tomorrow.

Not because I know exactly how it will happen.

But because I know the God I’m trusting.

Maybe It’s Not No. Maybe It’s Not Yet.

I don’t know what the rest of this year will look like.

But I’m still here.

Still praying.
Still learning.
Still building.
Still believing.
Still hopeful.

And if you’re in a similar place, I hope you keep going too.

You don’t have to have everything figured out today.

Maybe it’s not over.

Maybe it’s just not yet.

A Prayer

Lord,

For the person reading this who is tired of waiting, please meet them where they are.

When disappointment makes them question themselves, remind them of who they are in You.

When they feel forgotten, remind them that You have not forgotten them.

Give them strength to keep going, wisdom to recognise Your direction, and faith to trust You even when they cannot see what You are doing.

Help us not to confuse “not yet” with “never.”

And when our hope feels small, remind us that You are still faithful.

Amen. 🤍
