Holding On to Hope

As I prayed and reflected on the year ahead, one word kept pressing on my heart: Hopeful.

If I’m being honest, after the tough year I had last year, hope is all I really have right now. I’m not stepping into this year with everything figured out. I’m still in the same place—just hopeful, not knowing how this year will turn out.

Usually, at the start of a new year, we feel motivated. We set goals, make plans, and expect things to fall into place quickly. We tell ourselves, “This will be the year I’m consistent,” or “This is the year new opportunities will come.”
But real life doesn’t always work that way.

The first few weeks of this year have actually felt a little discouraging for me. And I know that discouragement often comes with fear—trying to convince us that nothing will change.
But God’s Word reminds me:
“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind.”2 Timothy 1:7

One thing God has been teaching me is patience. When you plant a seed, you don’t harvest the next day. Growth takes time. That truth has been challenging for me, but it’s necessary.
“Let us not grow weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”Galatians 6:9

As I plan, pray, and commit my goals to God, I’m learning to trust Him with the timing. I’m choosing to stay connected to the source of my strength—Jesus Christ—because He already knows how 2026 will unfold.
“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.”Hebrews 13:8

Even when fear creeps in…
Even when reality doesn’t look like what I’m praying for…
I remind myself of this truth:
“Faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.”Hebrews 11:1

Hope doesn’t mean everything looks good.
Hope means trusting a God who never leaves.
“Be strong and courageous… for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”Joshua 1:9

One encouragement I want to share this year is this: stay connected to community.
Living life alone is dangerous. When you isolate yourself, discouragement grows louder. But when you walk with people who pray with you, encourage you, and remind you of God’s promises, it makes a world of difference.
“Two are better than one… If either of them falls, one can help the other up.”Ecclesiastes 4:9–10

Community looks different for everyone.
It could be friends or brothers and sisters in Christ, a small group from church, family members you pray with, or even an online faith community. For me, Seen & Loved with Ally is a space I’m creating because I needed something like this in my most vulnerable moments. I don’t have everything figured out—I’m still learning—but I’m choosing to build and be part of spaces that encourage hope.

Being planted in the right community helps you stay hopeful when you feel weak. Life can be heavy, but we serve a faithful God.
“Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.”Isaiah 40:31

I’m entering 2026 without all the answers—but with hope.
Hope that God is still working.
Hope that growth is happening, even when I can’t see it yet.
Hope because things never stay the same.

If you’re starting this year feeling unsure, discouraged, or simply holding on by hope alone—know that you’re not alone.
“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him.”Romans 15:13

I’m choosing to remain hopeful.
And I pray you do too 🤍

I genuinely love this it is so true that you start the year motivated but somewhere along the line life goes south, this was my last year you couldn’t have said it better….l got to a point where l avoid going to church the first month of the year because being told its going to be my year made it seem like l am being lied to nevertheless, l am being hopeful this year l am not losing hope be it my child’s health and mine, my business l will make decisions out of faith not fear.

Thank you for this, what stood out to me is the importance of having a community, I pray that people never underestimate the power of this design that i believe God is intentional about. We need people.

    1. Thank you for reading, bro! We thank the Lord that this blessed you, and we keep our eyes fixed on the One who gives us Hope indeed!

  5. What a beautiful message on hope. Thank you for saying yes to God when you are uncertain, a little discouraged or even weary. Even from the place, you were able to encourage us and that is a beautiful reflection of what surrender looks like. I also loved your point on community. We truly need people!! It protects us from the attacks that tend to work when you are isolated.

    1. Oh yes, my sissy You said it so well and beautifully. Even when I am uncertain and weary, I am surrendered to the One who gives me hope. May God keep helping me to do so!
